10 of Kunskapsskolan´s schools ranked among 100 best in Sweden
Ten of Kunskapsskolan´s schools have been ranked among the 100 schools in Sweden with the best grade points. The ten Kunskapsskolan schools on the list are located in Borås, Nyköping, Västerås, Enskede, Helsingborg, Lund, Nacka, Saltsjöbaden, Täby and Uppsala. Kunskapsskolan in Saltsjöbaden, located just outside Stockholm, achieved the highest points among all schools in Sweden: a grade average* of 294.
Eighteen of Kunskapsskolan´s 20 schools with graduating students are among the top three in relation to other schools in their municipality. The results for ninth grade classes for the spring of 2010 are now available from Skolverket, the Swedish National Agency for Education.
For a number of years, Kunskapsskolan has been systematically working on setting goals, making forecasts and following up results for each subject at each school. Last year, five Kunskapsskolan schools were ranked among the top 100 in Sweden. “The fact that our grade results are improving in relation to other schools indicates that our systematic method of working with grades — what we call ‘grade management´ internally — is really producing results," says Per Ledin, CEO of Kunskapsskolan. Kunskapsskolan´s grade results are also well in line with national test scores in Sweden. One of the most important reasons behind Kunskapsskolan´s improving grade performance is that the percentage of students graded in all subjects is continuing to increase. An average of 88 percent of Kunskapsskolan´s students receive grades in all subjects, compared with Sweden´s national average of 77 percent. “Eighty-eight percent is very high for grades in all subjects. It´s very satisfying that we can maintain this high level and continue to improve our performance because it indicates that we have good order in our schools and take each student´s overall study situation into consideration," says Sofie Lindén, Kunskapsskolan´s Education Manager for secondary schools. Kunskapsskolan´s systematic approach to quality assurance work was also highlighted in a report recently published by the Swedish National Agency for Education (Report 2010:15), which commented that “the organizations responsible for concept schools, as exemplified by Kunskapsskolan in our study, have an expressed and well developed system for their quality work." Link to till Skolverket´s statistics Kunskapsskolan started the first schools in 2000 and currently operates 24 secondary schools for pupils between the ages of 12 and 16, and nine sixth form schools for 16 to 19 year olds, totalling 10,000 students. |
